Newborn photography one on one mentoring sessions

Newborn photography one on one mentoring sessions

Last year I started offering one on one mentoring sessions to photographers that were requesting a more specialised day as apposed to a group newborn posing class.

I absolutely love teaching one on ones – every session is completely different because they are tailored to each individual photographer.

We have covered everything from creating the perfect studio environment, working with babies safely, camera technique. posing to post production.  And of course anything relating to marketing and pricing for their business.

There is so much involved when working with babies; understanding them and how to pose them safely is something I can’t emphasise enough.  I have been a photographer for 10 years now and have been working with newborns solely for the past 4, and during this time have seen quite a few images of babies posed dangerously and that’s why I decided to start sharing what I have learnt.  During the last few years I have gained so much valuable information from medical professionals who work with newborns so I can better understand what these precious little lives are capable of.   And not forgetting that every baby is SO different and will not go into every single pose.

And we can forget the gorgeous models –  every time I put a call out for newborn models I’m blown away at how many responses I get!   I’m so grateful to all of the families who bring their brand new babies along to be photographed and posed.

This is little 10 day Ethan who came along to model for a mentoring session I had with two photographers last month in my Kenmore Hills studio in Brisbane…

    Hi Kelly,
I have purchased your online course over at Creative Live and loved it. I am doing children’s photography at the moment but would love to break into newborns. I have four children myself and love babies! I am really interested in a one on one mentoring or workshop with you. I live in NZ, but happy to travel to Brisbane.

Let me know when is a good time and what you charge? Any chance you could fit me in before March 24th as my mum is here in NZ (over from America) and could watch the children. I can work something out though if that doesn’t work for you!

    Regards,
    Lori

Why oh why do you have to live on the other side of the planet? I’d LOVE to attend a workshop (ok I’d really love the 1 on 1) on posing and lighting with you. Do you have any upcoming stuff in europe?

    Love,
    Helena
