~ Bumps to Babies ~

I’m home from another incredible trip to creativeLIVE in Seattle!!!

My family and friends have all been so excited to hear what is was like this time back but I’m finding it really hard to describe an experience that’s like no other and just how much gratitude I have right now.  The team at creativeLIVE is like a family, they are so open and genuine and I have made life long friends there.

When Sue Bryce and I started to talk about teaching a class on maternity and baby photography.  I couldn’t think of anyone better to teach how to photograph the beauty of a pregnant women, and for me I was just completely honored to have been asked to share my love of photographing babies along side her.  So on the 23rd August we taught our very first class together on creativeLIVE called Bumps to Babies – Photographing Motherhood.

Sue has been a HUGE inspiration to me over the last few years.  She is always so incredibly generous with her knowledge and time and  has become a truly amazing friend.  Our aim in going on creativeLIVE is to help inspire and teach as many as we can so that our industry becomes stronger as a whole.

On day 1 we had 14 babies come into the creativeLIVE studio to be photographed.  I wanted to show just how unique every baby is not just in their personalities but as they develop in their first year with every month.   They were all so much fun to photograph – and had a few in the cL house clucking!  Day 2 was all about photographing families, Sue demonstrated how to pose families together so that everyone looked beautiful, comfortable and connected.  The main message of the day was YOU MUST EXIST IN IMAGES FOR YOUR FAMILY.  And on Day 3 Sue worked with 4 gorgeous pregnant women, showing beautiful simple posing techniques that can be used in any setting.  And to finish the day off Sue taught a powerhouse marketing segment that is not to be missed!

And then there’s the bonus material!!!  Sue, myself and Karen Willmore from Digital Mastery (Brilliant Designer) put together the following: a Month to Month Description of a Babies First year.  There’s a Maternity Posing Manual, a Family Posing Manual & Marketing Templates that include Birth Announcements, Online Proofing Cards, Session Reminders, a Digital Baby Scrap Book, Plus the Keynotes from all 3 days & Premature Twins and Maternity Posing Videos.

There is just so much packed into this class!!!

We also had 9 amazing photographers join us in our live audience that travelled from all over the USA.  It means so much that they gave up their time to travel so far to support us.

I also have to say it blow’s me away to receive so many thoughtful emails and messages – I read every single one and will try and reply to all of them. Thank you.

Kelly x

How did I miss this post? Probably was still overwhelmed by the whole experience in Seattle. Thank you for all your sharing and your kindness. And of course for picking me among the 8 other amazing photographers to be there!!!

I am in the middle of Bumps to Babies and loving it. Thank you for sharing your passion and knowledge. I particularly appreciated when you touched on premature babies with the twins. My son, Kane, spent 54 days in the hospital and that has ignited a passion for shooting premature/medically fragile babies on a volunteer basis. I’m wondering if you have any advice or suggestions for working with these babies and their families. I’ve included links to the two blog posts I have done to date so you can see what I’ve tried. I completely understand if you don’t have time to respond. I am sure you have been inundated with emails!

I’m not a baby photographer, but thought I’d tune in to the first little bit of the course because I’ve always loved Sue. I was so mesmerized by your “baby whispering” techniques that I ended up watching the entire thing. Your work really is breathtaking! Thanks so much for putting yourself out there and sharing. : )
